I created The Secret Files of The SpyDogs especially with television animation in mind. When FoxKids decided to pick it up, it was really terrific newsthanks to co-executive producers Danny Kleztky, Michael Hack, and Eric Rollman. In the first season, we hit the ground running, and I had to learn fast how to deliver writing, designs, and storyboards according to the standards of the industry. The people at FoxKids and Saban were very generous and supportive about teaching me. I was lucky to work with them. By the end of season-one, I even did a storyboard solo, which was nerve-wracking but a ton of fun. Thanks to producer Will Meugniot for his patience and vote of confidence. The show was been picked up for a second season, and, just like you'd expect, the shows in second season were better. I co-wrote all of the scripts with Mike Ryan, whose terrific work you've also seen on all over Cartoon Network, and who now is sharing his talent with a production from WB. We got more excellent voice performances from our regulars like Adam West, Micky Dolenz, and Mary Kay Bergman, whose premature death saddened us all terribly. She was a wonderful talent, and a real pro. Great performances were persuaded by the great voice direction of Jamie Simone. We had a new producer that season, Mike Joens, who slid right into the role as gatekeeper and new friend. In the role of production manager, we had Kim Moreau, who had the difficult job of keeping a bunch of creative-type people on schedule. Without her influence, we'd still be sitting around eating pizza talking about when we should start on the first episode. Special thanks to Carol Monroe, who was head of development when we started, and Roland Poindexter, who was head of it when we finished, and to network executives Dave McDermott and Tracy Lee-Wong, who were there from the beginning, and who had their welcomed influence and creativity on every aspect of the show. Also, thanks to Barbara Manzo, who cracked the whip on us in first season, with such a unique gentleness that we hardly realized she had us jumping happily through fiery hoops. Of course, we need to thank Haim Saban, without whose blessing, none of this could have happened. You can catch the show on networks all over the world, just not in the U.S. ( I sometimes get fan mail from spots as unexpected as Saudi Arabia) Also, there are some great fan sites out there...look for them on yahoo. SpyDogs is owned by Disney now, so any questions about it may be directed to them. |
